In order to cater for a house the size of Chatsworth, the kitchens required a huge number of pots, pans and utensils to produce the elaborate meals required. These were usually produced in copper, and are traditionally referred to as a 'batterie de cuisine'.
Many of the pots are engraved with the Devonshire name or monogram, and also the name of the house they were made for.
The collection at Chatsworth includes copper items from Bolton Abbey, Chatsworth, Chiswick House and Devonshire House.
