Dutch born Laarman utilises digital technology to realise his designs in which he raises issues of craft, industry, sustainability and identity.
This bench from the Maker series is made from hundreds of pieces of interlocking walnut hexagons, allowing a complicated shape to be realised from the joining together of the puzzle-like pieces.
In time, Laarman intends to publish digital blueprints, which will allow anyone to access and modify the plans to create their own pieces and radically change how design and manufacture are currently thought about.
