A broad range of sculptures can be seen throughout the Chatsworth Garden, and each one requires careful cleaning and monitoring.
Our Contemporary Sculpture Cleaning programme has been put in place to ensure that every object under its care is regularly condition assessed and its cleanliness maintained and documented.
Although each sculpture has individual needs, the process of cleaning them is largely the same. Firstly, a dry brush is used to remove any loose deposits from the surface. This is followed by a wet clean, using low pressure water sprays and appropriate brushes to further clean any ingrained dirt or deposits.
Our shared passion for the preservation of the Devonshire Collections drives us to ensure that every step of the process aims to meet conservation guidelines.
